Maumelle Park is a gem. We were on our way to the Okie-Tex Star Party (see the blog) in September 2022 and found this state park not far off our route just outside of Little Rock.
Maumelle is on the Arkansas River. A number of the sites are river front

We have camped there 4 times as I write this. Twice we were on the river and twice across the road from the river. We liked both. The entire park is beautiful and it seems that many who use it prefer camping back from the river - some sites are more private, some are more communal.
We were there in early June, 2024 during a prolonged rain storm. That was the first time we had to set up in wind and rain and discovered that it was not as bad as we had expected. We noticed that a few of the river front sites had water standing in them, so we were glad to be a little higher on the other side of the road on this night.
There are few times that the Cumberland has not attracted an admiring comment or two after setting up.
All of the sites have electricity (30 and 50 amp), water, a table and a fire pit.
Camping in Maumelle, you would not know that just outside the park boundaries is a suburb of Little Rock. If you are tired from driving and having to set up camp in the dark, rain, and wind, you have a short drive to good dining. We found a very nice Indian restaurant close by, 'Saffron Indian Cuisine'.
Clearly, Maumelle is not where you go seeking wilderness, but you will enjoy a night or two there.
